Cheney family business and personal papers, 1888-1956.

Speeches on industry and the economy by Charles Cheney, 1888-1922; records of Cheney Brothers, including annual reports and documentation of the sale of the company, 1901-1956, and correspondence and printed documents related to various Cheney family members, 1929-1956. Of particular note are the letters written and pictures taken by Wade Cheney when he traveled to Japan, China, Korea, Singapore, and India in 1923 to study the Asian silk industry . His own photographs are supplemented by postcards he purchased and either carried home or mailed. Several of his letters, written to his parents, include pen sketches of sites he saw along the way.
